177Appointment of Supreme Court Judges(1), (2)To be appointed, a person must be a citizen and have five years’ experience as a High Court Judge or fifteen years as an advocate of a High Court.
178Oath of OfficeBefore entering office, the Chief Justice makes an oath before the President, and other Judges make an oath before the Chief Justice.
179Retiring ageA Judge of the Supreme Court shall hold office until he attains the age of sixty-five years.
180Acting Chief Justice(a), (b)When the office of Chief Justice is vacant, the President appoints the most senior of the other Judges to act as Chief Justice.
181Acting Judges(1), (2)If a Supreme Court seat is vacant, the President may appoint a qualified High Court Judge to act temporarily as a Judge of the Supreme Court.
182Appointment of ad-hoc Judges(a), (b)The Chief Justice of Pakistan may, with Presidential approval, request retired superior court judges to attend sittings as ad-hoc Judges.
183Seat of the Supreme Court(1), (2), (3)The permanent seat of the Supreme Court shall be at Islamabad.
184Original Jurisdiction of Supreme Court(1), (2), (3)The Court has original jurisdiction in inter-governmental disputes and matters of public importance involving enforcement of Fundamental Rights.
185Appellate jurisdiction of Supreme Court(1), (2), (3)The Supreme Court hears appeals from judgments, decrees, final orders, or sentences passed by a High Court.
186Advisory Jurisdiction(1), (2)If the President considers it desirable to obtain a legal opinion on a matter of public importance, he may refer the question to the Supreme Court.
186APower of Supreme Court to transfer casesThe Supreme Court may transfer any case or proceedings pending before any High Court to any other High Court.
187Issue and execution of processes of Supreme Court(1), (2), (3)The Court has the power to issue directions or orders necessary for doing complete justice, which are enforceable throughout Pakistan.
188Review of judgments of orders by the Supreme CourtThe Supreme Court has the power, subject to law and rules, to review any judgment or order made by it.
189Decisions of Supreme Court binding on other CourtsAny decision of the Supreme Court that decides a question of law or principle shall be binding on all other courts in Pakistan.
190Action in aid of Supreme CourtAll executive and judicial authorities throughout Pakistan shall act in aid of the Supreme Court.

193Appointment of High Court Judges(1), (2), (3)Candidates must be citizens, at least 45 years old, and have 10 years’ experience as an advocate or 10 years in the civil service/judicial office.
194Oath of OfficeHigh Court Judges make an oath before the Governor, while the Islamabad High Court Chief Justice makes an oath before the President.
195Retiring ageA Judge of a High Court shall hold office until he attains the age of sixty-two years.
196Acting Chief Justice(a), (b)If the HC Chief Justice office is vacant, the President appoints another HC judge or an SC judge to act as Chief Justice.
197Additional Judges(a), (b), (c)The President may appoint qualified persons as Additional Judges of a High Court for a specified period determined by law.
198Seat of the High Court(1) to (6)High Courts shall sit at their principal seats and at specific Benches such as Bahawalpur, Multan, Sukkur, Abbottabad, and Sibi.
199Jurisdiction of High Court(1) to (5)High Courts have power to issue writs for the enforcement of Fundamental Rights and for judicial review.
200Transfer of High Court Judges(1), (2), (3)The President may transfer a Judge from one High Court to another with his consent and after consultation with the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
201Decision of High Court binding on subordinate CourtsAny decision of a High Court deciding a question of law or principle is binding on all courts subordinate to it.

204Contempt of Court(1), (2), (3)The Supreme Court and High Courts have the power to punish any person who abuses, interferes with, or scandalizes the Court.
205Remuneration etc., of judgesRemuneration and conditions of service for superior court judges shall be as provided in the Fifth Schedule.
206Resignation(1), (2)A Judge may resign his office by writing under his hand addressed to the President.
207Judge not to hold office of profit, etc.(1), (2), (3)Judges are barred from holding other offices of profit or pleading before authorities for two years after retirement.
208Officers and servants of CourtsSuperior courts, with appropriate approval, may make rules for the appointment and conditions of their own staff.
209Supreme Judicial Council(1) to (8)The Council is established to inquire into the capacity or misconduct of Judges and issue a code of conduct.
210Power of Council to enforce attendance of persons, etc.(1), (2)The Council has the same power as the Supreme Court to enforce attendance and the production of documents.
211Bar of jurisdictionProceedings and reports of the Supreme Judicial Council shall not be called in question in any court.
212Administrative Courts and Tribunals(1), (2), (3)The Legislature may establish tribunals with exclusive jurisdiction over service matters and tortious acts of Government.
